Phillip Bowles is a classically trained figurative oil painter (See phillipbowles.com). Born in 1983 in Richmond, Virginia, Phillip graduated with a BFA in Communication Arts from Virginia Commonwealth University in 2006. He received his MFA from The School of Visual Arts’ Illustration As Visual Essay program in 2011. He continued his studies at The Florence Academy of Art’s U.S. branch in Jersey City, NJ, from 2015 – 2017. Phillip was selected to be the Artist-in-Residence at Franciscan University of Steubenville from 2018 – 2021. Currently, Phillip resides in Richmond where he paints and teaches drawing courses at Virginia Commonwealth University.
