The Most Reverend Daniel M. Buechlein, O.S.B. is Archbishop of Indianapolis. Solemnly professed as a Benedictine monk in 1963, and ordained a priest the following year, Archbishop Buechlein was installed as the Archbishop of Indianapolis in 1992. In 1994, he began the work of chairing the Ad Hoc Committee for the Use of the Catechism, established by the Bishops of the United States and tasked with the review of religion textbooks with an eye to their conformity with the teaching of the Catechism of the Catholic Church. He is currently a member of the USCCB’s Committee on Evangelization and Catechesis and since 2003 has been a Consulter to the Congregation for the Clergy.
